a report from patrice

"I eat a lot of delicious fruit, and my tastebuds are coming alive (you should put that in your blog) in a way that makes everything taste better. More flavors, fewer artificial ingredients, fewer foods that are mostly sugar and fat — all make eating a more pleasurable experience. And I’m HUNGRY when I eat now... The best way to enjoy a meal. It takes a while to get used to a normal level of hunger (not starving) without panicking, when you’ve been used to having too much most of the time.

I did go out to Starbucks last night with Richard for my favorite kind of soy chai, and split a piece of tea bread. It was perfect, and felt like plenty to me."

I agree that it is hard to get used to a normal level of hunger, since we have so much food available to us anytime we want it. It also makes us enjoy our food less when we have too much, too much of the time. (if that makes sense).

Learning to listen to our bodies, and not eating because our minds or our emotions tell us to is difficult. That's what I've been working on lately.

And I agree that eating is so much more enjoyable when we are actually hungry when we eat.

And by the way, I've lost 5 pounds.

As they say at Staples, "That was easy."
