the root chakra

The root chakra is the chakra located at the base of your spine. It relates to the first color of the rainbow - red.

The root chakra governs basic instincts for survival. It controls our ability to maintain a home, to earn money to pay the bills, and all our physical needs.

If this chakra is unhealthy, it can cause us to be greedy, feel needy, or unappreciative of what we do have. It can cause you to neglect the steps necessary to maintain your environment - including making unhealthy eating choices.

To help strengthen, nourish, balance and cleanse the root chakra, eat at least one serving of a red food each day. Red foods include tomatos, strawberries, cranberries and raspberries. certain spices, such as paprika and cayenne pepper, are also red foods. red potatos, especially when they are young, are also included as red food for many people.
